Jessica Kochmer, CPDT-KA

Biography

Jessica joined Philly Unleashed in 2013 after graduating from Millersville University with a major in Animal Science and Behavior. While in college, Jessica interned at the Humane League of Lancaster County, working under the lead behavior specialist to acclimate the dogs during their time at the shelter before joining their forever families.

A driven and dedicated learner, Jessica earned her CPDT-KA certification from the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers AND her certification as an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator in 2015.

Although Jessica currently teaches continuous rotations of Puppy Kindergarten, Level 1 and Level 2 classes, you will also find her assisting in a variety of classes throughout the year. She has a special talent for teaching appropriate behaviors and manners to even the most stubborn dogs! She also spends a lot of time training future therapy dogs in the Canine Good Citizen and Therapy Prep workshops. She loves working through the different stages of training and seeing dogs from Puppy Kindergarten classes become certified therapy dogs.

Jessica lives in Philadelphia with her fiancé. They’re planning a wedding in the fall of 2018!

What People Are Saying

“I have been using Philly Unleashed for my shepherd puppy. I can’t rave about them enough! I have had classes with Jessica, Kelsey and Nicole. Awesome trainers; all of them! Any issues I’ve had they’ve helped with step by step, including through email during tough times when we aren’t in class. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. The monthly unlimited classes are awesome for me because I can go as much as I want. Got training issues? This is your place!”

“My dog, Gracie , and I took the therapy class with Alicia and Jess in the winter and they were fantastic. Gracie is a Great Dane, so by nature she can get a little skittish. When the props came out Gracie did not take well to the cane, but Alicia let me take one home to desensitize Gracie to it. I brought the cane everywhere (I’m sure my neighbors thought I was nuts but who cares!). I fed her holding the cane, walked her, etc. It worked like a charm. Alicia and Jess were so helpful and patient getting Gracie used to all of the equipment and being touched on all areas of her body. It is hard work, but it was fun and so worth it.”
