Biography
A South Jersey native, Karen Bauer has been passionate about animals since childhood, growing up training German Shepherd Dogs and pet sitting for friends and family. After high school, she pursued a degree in photography at Drexel University, but her true calling—working with dogs—eventually won out.
Karen’s journey into professional dog training began in 2018 when she joined Philly Unleashed as a FarmCamp trainer and enrolled in the Catch Dog Trainer Academy. Her dedication and skill earned her the CPDT-KA certification in 2022, at which point she stepped into the role of Lead FarmCamp Trainer.
When she’s not training dogs, Karen is all about sports. A die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, she proudly (and enthusiastically) educates the rest of the staff on which teams play with which ball. An athlete herself, Karen plays ice hockey, ball hockey, and soccer weekly—proving she has just as much energy as the dogs she trains.
Karen lives with her Australian Shepherd, Teemu, and is known around Philly Unleashed as the resident Energizer Bunny—always ready to jump into action, whether it’s on the field, the ice, or at FarmCamp!
