Biography
A native of South Jersey, Karen Bauer grew up training German Shepherd Dogs and pet sitting for friends and family members. Upon graduating high school, Karen pursued a degree in photography from Drexel University. After college, Karen worked at a manager at Starbucks for several years before deciding that her passion really was in animal behavior. She immersed herself in dog training by enrolling in Catch Dog Trainer Academy in the summer of 2018, and joining the Philly Unleashed team as a Farmcamp trainer in November 2018. Karen is slated to finish her studies early next year and sit for certification in the summer of 2019. Her ultimate goals include training military and police dogs, or service dogs for those in need.
When Karen is not training dogs, she’s an avid ice hockey player. Karen lives with her German Shepherd Dog, Otto; whom she taught to drop a hockey puck in front of her on the cue “face off”. You can currently find them residing in Delran NJ, where they regularly practice their hockey skills together!
