Biography
Emily works with Philly Unleashed taking private lessons, teaching group workshops, and as a Farmcamp trainer. Her passion and training expertise lies in shy and fearful dogs, separation anxiety, and helping households with children and dogs find harmony!
Growing up in suburban New York, Emily was raised with the stated family values of loving dogs (and other animals), spending time outside, being kind, and quality baked goods. She grew up alongside three Brittanies, getting her first dog of her own, another Brittany named Malo, shortly after her ninth birthday. She first dipped her toe into dog training with her dad’s anxious border collie mix while living at home after college and returned to it in 2021 diving headfirst into tricks and obedience with her hiking/running/exploring buddy, Mr. Tumnus, and obedience with her dachshund mix, Lucy.
She studied Biology and music at Mount Holyoke College before working for a New York State Assembly Member, a role she left to pursue further education in public health and public policy. She holds a Masters in Public Health from Drexel University and is finishing a MA in Urban Affairs and Public Policy at the University of Delaware. Her research interests include reproductive health access and media representations of substance use disorders.
When she is not studying, she is staying sane by training dogs, baking bread, and running. If she is not at home in Grad Hospital, where she lives with her fiancé and their two dogs, she and Tumnus have likely run into the woods in the Adirondacks and will return eventually.
